I hope you’re doing well! I kindly wanted to follow up as we look ahead to the next wave of cultural moments in Greater Miami & Miami Beach. Later this month, The Miami Takeover returns July 25-28, bringing the energy of D.C. to South Beach with day parties, wellness events and the Art of Go-Go Culture Fest on July 26 at the Miami Beach Bandshell.

Significantly, August also marks Black-Owned Business Month, offering a timely opportunity to highlight the Black entrepreneurs, artists and creators shaping the city’s neighborhoods year-round. From previous James Beard semi-finalist Chef Tristen Epps at Ocean Social bringing African and Caribbean flavors to the forefront; to the iconic murals of Nate Dee across Wynwood and Downtown Miami and to the historic Dunns-Josephine Hotel in Overtown that honors the area’s cultural legacy, there’s no shortage of local stories.

If you’re interested in spotlighting any local businesses or business owners, or even interested in a wider travel story covering all the ways readers can support Black-owned businesses when visiting Miami, I’d love to connect and provide any information you may need.

As I mentioned in my initial email, Miami is home to a thriving network of Black entrepreneurs, artists and creators across industries. These businesses represent the community-focused, culturally rich and proudly local spirit of the city:

    • Notable Voices in Miami’s Culinary Scene: Chefs Akino West, Raheem Sealey, Rodrick Leighton and Shrusan Gray and more

I am happy to facilitate introductions to business owners, artists, neighborhood leaders or the GMCVB’s Multicultural Team – like Head of the Multicultural Tourism and Development Department (MTDD) Connie Kinnard or Board Chair of the GMCVB Julissa Kepner – and ultimately help shape an angle that feels right for your audience.
