Home of the loved and lauded ‘fluffy brow,’ Studio Sashiko now performs brow magic at its new Los Angeles boutique in the heart of the thriving downtown arts district.
For the past few years, micro-blading, along with other techniques of permanent brow and makeup applications, has surged in popularity and is a must for those who desire the full-bodied, glamorous brows so ubiquitous on social media and ad campaigns. Those luscious brows you see on models are the result of a painstaking application and dye process, not merely genetic good fortune.
Just like the entertainment industry, brow artistry has its A-listers, and Studio Sashiko stands alone as the most sought-after brow destination in North America, if not the world. Based in Langley, British Columbia, Studio Sashiko and founder Shaughnessy Otsuji regularly receive customers from around the globe for their unparalleled brow artistry. In fact, appointment slots are booked within minutes of announced availability. In addition, the tranquil, art-forward space emulates a more spa-like experience than the average permanent makeup storefront.
About Studio Sashiko
Embracing the Japanese art of tebori, an ancient practice of tattooing by hand, their meticulous method, called sashiko, translates to “little stabs.” Born out of a passion for bridging art and tattoos with high fashion and design. We take pride in the meticulous and detailed process of tattooing by hand; taking cues from high fashion for creating new brow trends and finding inspiration in unique face shapes and features.
Founded in 2015 by industry veterans and Co-Owners, Shaughnessy and Kyle Otsuji, Studio Sashiko has grown to achieve a name for itself around the globe. Recognized for creating hyper-realistic results and an all-inclusive approach to cosmetic and restorative tattooing, Studio Sashiko provides a welcome space for clients to express themselves and artists to work in.
Shaughnessy has worked within the Body Modification and Tattoo industry since 2007. She attended Emily Carr University of Art + Design to further her Illustration and Design skills. With her background in Fine Arts and an interest in cosmetics, tattooing was a natural progression. In 2015, she opened Studio Sashiko with her husband, Kyle Otsuji.
Her passion is producing natural-looking eyebrow tattoos for those who have suffered from hair loss and areola restorative tattooing for clients who have undergone a mastectomy or breast reconstruction. She specializes in creating, enhancing, and replicating hyper-realistic features for her clients.
