PRODUCT REVIEW: SKINNY COCONUT OIL

By Portia Backus

Call it the duct tape of oil!

Skinny Coconut Oil is something every girl (and guy) should keep in their medicine cabinet as the creamer that’s great as a make-up remover, moisturizer or lotion that increases skin tolerance to avoid burns, soothes dry skin, cracks, itchiness or cuts and even prevents new moms from developing stretch marks caused by pregnancy.

Directly imported from the Ben Tre Jungles of Vietnam through a company called Catchrs, Skinny Coconut Oil is now available here in the U.S. for its many uses and benefits. Where most coconut oils have a rough texture, cracks in the jar, bleached white color, and an overpowering odor, this product of100% raw Skinny Coconut Oil has a quality, smooth texture, light fragrance, and a creamy natural white color.

Along with the expected benefits listed on the jar it ‘provides sustained energy and boosts metabolism that could lead to weight loss.’ It says it can also be credited for ‘increased brain clarity’.

Coconut oil has many other beneficial uses. You can mix it in with your coffee, tea, or smoothies for a natural boost of energy, eat it straight from the jar to replace your butter for a more natural and healthy substance, and in boosting your metabolism, it may support a healthy thyroid function, and re-hydrates cells. It can be used to lessen the appearance of wrinkles, lightens age spots, as well as speed and strengthen hair growth.

My personal favorite use of Skinny Coconut Oil is oil pulling. Swish one spoonful of the stuff around in your mouth for 5-20 minutes every morning to freshen breath and whiten your teeth.
