This past August 7th marked the Shiseido Blue Project’s Fourth-Annual West Coast beach clean-up, hosted by the impeccable Nina Dobrev, alongside World Surf League (WSL) and WILDCOAST – an international team that conserves coastal and marine ecosystems and addresses climate change through natural solutions. Established in 2019, the Shiseido Blue Project is a global effort to promote ocean protection. Through this initiative, Shiseido and WSL have collaborated on activities promoting respect for our oceans. These activities include cleaning up beaches, oyster restoration, leading global initiatives like WSL One Ocean, and promoting skin sun-safe habits. Dobrev is a recipient of the EMA Futures Award at the Environmental Media Association’s Honor Benefit Gala 2019. The event was also attended by surf superstars Sage Erickson and Eli Hanneman.
For the third consecutive year, SHSEIDO partnered with WSL to launch a Limited-Edition Shiseido x WSL Ultimate Sun Protector Lotion SPF 60+ & Clear Sunscreen Stick SPF 50+.
WILDCOAST is committed to ocean conservation through various programs, such as the management and conservation of 545,280 acres of marine protected areas off California’s coast, as well as their marine debris program, which has stopped over 225,000 lbs. of solid waste like plastic and tires from entering the Pacific Ocean through their trash boom (Mexico’s first ever solid waste retention system).
Conserving the ocean requires marine protected areas, managing fisheries, and cleaning up what goes into the sea. Beach clean-ups reduce litter and protect critical habitats for wildlife. They help raise awareness about other issues in our oceans and galvanize communities to care.
