Twice a year, fashion enthusiasts, influencers, and sartorialists alike gather in anticipation of the culminating fashion event of the year—New York Fashion Week. On September 7th, global collective FILIPINXT premiered the finest in Filipino fashion and design at New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2025, held at Annex 417 in Manhattan. This Filipino-led platform returned with an illuminating showcase poised to stand among the best.
In collaboration with the Philippine Consulate General in New York and Kalye NYC restaurant, this year’s event spotlighted the global excellence of Filipino fashion and design, set against the dynamic backdrop of New York City.
Attendees witnessed the remarkable work of renowned Filipino designers, including Bessie Besana (@bessiebesana), Maison Métisse (@maison.metisse), Andrea Tetangco (@andreatetangco), Ninofranco by Wilson Limon (@ninofranco.ph), Chynna Mamawal Atelier (@chynnamamawal), and Tagpi by Gabby Garcia (@pinagtagp). The event also featured a trunk show, displaying pieces from these designers alongside sponsors such as Crimson Boracay Island Luxury Resort, Gretz Jewelry, and Llamanzares Barongs. The runway featured collections incorporating indigenous fabrics, intricate weaves, and contemporary silhouettes, offering a fresh perspective at New York Fashion Week. Each designer encapsulated the trendsetting, high-energy spirit of the event.
Following the success of its inaugural show, “FILIPINXT: Maiden Show,” in May 2024, FILIPINXT has further cemented its place in the fashion world. This September event, held in the heart of Manhattan, celebrated the culture, craftsmanship, and vibrant creative spirit of the Philippines. Adding to the evening’s prestige were special appearances by Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach-Jauncey and Miss Universe 2022 R’Bonney Gabriel, whose presence amplified the glamour and global appeal of the showcase, offering attendees a memorable experience.
Spectators had the opportunity to purchase beautifully crafted garments and accessories, each representing a significant part of Filipino cultural heritage. The trunk show was more than just a display of fashion—it was a chance to connect with the stories behind each piece, meet the talented artisans and designers, and take home a piece of Filipino culture.
Looking ahead, FILIPINXT has two major projects on the horizon:
- October 2024: The launch of their e-commerce platform at www.filipinxt.com, offering global customers exclusive access to collections from Filipino designers and artisans, further enhancing the visibility of Filipino fashion worldwide.
- February 2025: The inaugural Supermodel Competition, aimed at discovering and promoting emerging Filipino modeling talent from the Philippines to New York City. This competition will offer valuable mentorship and international exposure, positioning FILIPINXT as a key player in shaping the future of Filipino fashion.
