Beloved British brand Damson Madder is bringing a slice of Brighton life to Echo Park this Spring with a 3000 square foot pop-up on Western Avenue. The four-day event will showcase the brand’s High Summer collection, including swimsuits, accessories, talent, and a first-come, first-served fish-and-chip food truck for a taste of that briney, beachy flavor in a uniquely LA dining style.
The store design is heavily inspired by the quaint and humble British roadside shop, with a collection of artisanal trompe-l’oeil ceramic shelves by Italian decor studio TOOJ and a bright blue facade to emulate a bright, summer sky. Inside, shoppers will find a functional café where they are welcome to enjoy a latté, tunes and some fashionable high-summer Damson Madder apparel.
This season, “Appreciation Society” is the main pillar of messaging, which looks at hobbies and play as fundamental to the Damson Madder lifestyle; a non-negotiable. The brand makes clothes for the fashionable flaneur with convertible linings, reversible jackets, and multitudinous pockets. The high summer collection “Transformation” reflects on this quality in a broader sense, looking at identity and movement in the context of summer style.
Damson Madder is best known for its quirky, approachable style that incorporates elements of punk, cottage core, and Scandi style with a veritably sustainable approach. Their Jerry Trench has sold out several times over and continues to perform so well that the product’s name is quickly becoming eponymous. This year, Damson Madder is betting big on community after the success of their NYFW presentation, a hybrid chess tournament fashion show during NYFW in a private garden alongside their blockbuster campaign starring Lily McMenamy named, “The Slow Lane”, and pop-up on Crosby Street which was well attended by VIP such as Ella Emhoff who has since become a reliable brand ambassador, Casimere Joliette of Tiny Pretty Things fame, curator Gabrielle Richardson, and notorious comedienne Ilana Glaser.
