In the vibrant city of Porto, Portugal, where tradition and creativity collide, Francisca Lima has emerged as one of the most passionate and influential voices in contemporary urban dance culture. A dancer, choreographer, educator, and creative visionary, Francisca has dedicated her life to movement, artistic expression, and inspiring the next generation through dance.
Raised in Porto, Francisca comes from a family deeply rooted in dance. Her school, founded 47 years ago by her grandmother and later continued by her mother, represents more than a business — it is a legacy built on artistry, discipline, and cultural connection. Today, Francisca proudly continues that tradition while simultaneously shaping her own path in the global dance scene.
Professionally involved in dance for nearly 14 years, Francisca has evolved into a multifaceted creative force. Her work spans regular dance classes, private instruction, live performances, choreography for music videos and concerts, festival productions, wedding choreography, competition coaching, and judging. Her artistic reach extends far beyond Portugal, allowing her to connect with dancers and audiences from around the world.
What truly sets Francisca apart is her ability to blend powerful technical training with emotional authenticity. For her, dance is more than movement — it is communication, healing, and transformation.
“My profession allows me to connect with different people from all over the world,” she explains. “Dance lets me express what words sometimes cannot.”
Her commitment to education is equally inspiring. Francisca believes dance can shape character just as much as talent, helping young people grow not only into stronger performers but into stronger individuals.
Over the years, her dedication has taken her internationally, teaching workshops in locations including Cape Verde, London, and Las Vegas. She has also traveled extensively for training and artistic development, studying and refining her craft in destinations such as Los Angeles, New York, Bulgaria, France, and the United Kingdom.
A graduate of Balleteatro do Porto, where she trained in contemporary dance performance, Francisca later immersed herself in urban dance culture, developing a unique choreographic identity rooted in fusion. Her work often combines the energy of hip hop with the rhythm and soul of dancehall, creating performances that are both explosive and emotionally grounded.
One of her proudest accomplishments has been founding the competition group AL JÚNIOR, which has achieved multiple podium placements under her direction. Through the group, Francisca has remained committed to artistic consistency and authenticity while pushing creative boundaries.
Currently, one of her greatest passions is Afro House — a dance style and cultural movement she has studied and embraced for many years through workshops, travel, performances, research, and teaching. She now considers expanding the appreciation and understanding of Afro House in Porto to be one of her most important missions.
Beyond the studio, Francisca also embraces fashion, music, travel, and personal style — elements that naturally influence her artistic presence and choreography. Whether performing on stage, leading a workshop, or mentoring young dancers, she embodies confidence, discipline, and cultural pride.
Today, Francisca Lima continues to expand her international presence and remains available for performances, choreography projects, workshops, judging opportunities, and teaching engagements across the United States, United Kingdom, and Europe.
With every class she teaches and every stage she steps onto, Francisca proves that dance has the power not only to entertain — but to elevate, connect, and transform lives.
