The excitement of professional bull riding came roaring into Long Island as the New York Mavericks delivered a spectacular hometown victory during the final day of the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Go Bowling Maverick Days competition at UBS Arena in Belmont Park, New York, on Sunday, October 18, 2026.
In a nail-biting contest that kept spectators captivated until the final moments, the Mavericks defeated the Texas Rattlers by an incredibly narrow margin of 263.75 to 263.30, securing a memorable victory in front of their hometown supporters.
For Millennium Magazine, the experience was particularly special. Through an exclusive invitation extended by the New York Mavericks, the publication received premium access to the event, entering UBS Arena through its BMW Premium Entrance before being escorted to a coveted chute-side viewing position.
Far from the traditional spectator seating, Millennium Magazine had the extraordinary opportunity to experience professional bull riding from just steps away from the action, witnessing firsthand the preparation, concentration, athleticism, and adrenaline that define one of America’s most demanding sports.
From the thunderous sounds of the bulls inside the chutes to the explosive moments when riders launched into the arena, the close-up perspective offered an unforgettable look at a sporting spectacle unlike any other.
An Exclusive Experience Behind the Chutes
Professional bull riding is already an impressive spectacle from the grandstands, but witnessing the competition chute-side reveals an entirely different level of intensity.
For Millennium Magazine, the Mavericks’ exclusive invitation provided a rare opportunity to appreciate the sport from a perspective usually reserved for those working closely with the competition.
The chutes are where the action truly begins.
Within these confined spaces, riders prepare to face powerful, unpredictable bulls, adjusting their equipment and mentally preparing for the challenge ahead.
The objective may sound simple: remain mounted on a bucking bull for eight seconds. Yet those eight seconds require exceptional balance, strength, timing, determination, and courage.
From the chute-side vantage point, the speed and physical power of the animals become unmistakable. The moment a gate opens, the combination of motion, noise, and athletic intensity creates an experience that television coverage can scarcely replicate.
For Millennium Magazine, the access offered an exceptional opportunity to witness the teamwork and preparation behind the sport while enjoying the excitement of a major professional competition.
The Mavericks’ hospitality also demonstrated how professional sporting organizations can create memorable premium experiences for their invited media guests and partners.
A Victory Decided by Less Than One Point
Sunday’s contest between the New York Mavericks and Texas Rattlers provided the perfect conclusion to the three-day hometown event.
Both teams delivered three successful eight-second rides, with the outcome ultimately determined by a difference of just 0.45 points.
The Mavericks established their competitive presence early when Hudson Bolton recorded an impressive 88.80 points riding Kangaroo Jack.
Marco Rizzo followed with an 86.05-point performance aboard Jailbird, adding another important score for New York.
But the Texas Rattlers refused to surrender.
Texas rider Josh Frost scored 85.20 points on Smooth Movin Train, while Brady Fielder delivered an outstanding 89.80-point performance aboard Heavy Load, temporarily returning the advantage to the visiting team.
With the competition hanging in the balance, Brazilian rider Leonardo Castro delivered the defining moment for the Mavericks.
Castro successfully completed his eight-second ride aboard Flyin’ Solo, earning 88.90 points and pushing New York into the lead.
Texas rider Lucas Divino responded with an 88.30-point performance on Tulsa Time, but the Rattlers ultimately fell just short.
When the final scores were confirmed, the Mavericks emerged victorious, 263.75 to 263.30.
The result was a remarkable demonstration of how closely matched professional bull riding teams can be, with fractions of a point separating celebration from disappointment.
For New York, the victory represented more than another result on the season schedule. It was an opportunity to finish the hometown competition on a high note and reward the enthusiastic supporters who gathered at UBS Arena.
Ten Teams Bring Professional Bull Riding to Long Island
The October 16–18 Go Bowling Maverick Days event welcomed all 10 PBR Teams franchises to UBS Arena, showcasing leading professional bull riders from the United States and around the world.
The team-based format adds another dimension to traditional bull riding, combining individual performances into a collective competition where every successful eight-second ride can make the difference.
During Sunday’s five head-to-head matchups, spectators witnessed impressive victories, unexpected upsets, and remarkably close finishes.
The Austin Gamblers defeated the Nashville Stampede 356.10 to 178.80, while the Florida Freedom earned a 129.95-to-88.55 victory over the Missouri Thunder.

The Carolina Cowboys overcame the Arizona Ridge Riders by a score of 176.55 to 0, while the New York Mavericks capped the afternoon with their dramatic triumph over Texas.
The event highlighted the growing appeal of team-based bull riding, a competition format that brings regional identities, rivalries, and team loyalty to a sport traditionally associated with individual competitors.
Throughout the three-day event, riders collectively completed 79 qualified rides, establishing a PBR Teams record for the most successful rides during a three-day competition.
A Global Sport with a Growing Audience
Although professional bull riding is strongly associated with American Western culture, the sport has developed a significant international following.
Competitors from countries including Brazil, Australia, and the United States regularly participate in elite events, bringing different backgrounds and sporting traditions into the same competitive arena.
The New York Mavericks’ roster reflects this international character, with athletes representing a range of countries and professional experiences.
Leonardo Castro’s decisive performance on Sunday was another example of the important contributions international riders make to the PBR Teams competition.
The sport also continues to evolve as a commercial entertainment attraction.
Professional bull riding brings together athletic competition, sponsorships, live event production, broadcast coverage, merchandise, and premium hospitality experiences.
For major venues such as UBS Arena, the arrival of PBR Teams demonstrates the versatility of a modern entertainment destination capable of hosting everything from concerts and hockey to world-class competitive sporting events.
For brands, media outlets, and corporate partners, these competitions also provide opportunities to connect with passionate sports audiences through sponsorships, entertainment experiences, and special events.
The Mavericks’ exclusive hospitality extended to Millennium Magazine highlighted this intersection of professional sports, entertainment, and relationship-building.
