Nemarca Continues to Build a Unique Voice Through Song, Storytelling and Experimentation

Boston artist and songwriter Anna Reidister has steadily been carving out a distinctive space in the independent music world through her solo project, Nemarca, a creative outlet where songwriting, storytelling and sonic experimentation intersect.

Many listeners were first introduced to Nemarca through the release of the deeply personal EP Falling All the Time, a collection of songs Reidister originally wrote during her early twenties and throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The project explored themes of love, memory, identity and personal growth, capturing a period of uncertainty and transformation that resonated with audiences seeking authenticity and emotional connection.

Reflecting on the songs, Reidister described them as intimate snapshots of her life and relationships. Each track served as a love letter to someone significant—a friend, family member, former partner, or even herself—creating what she viewed as a musical memoir. The result was a body of work that invited listeners into vivid memories and emotional landscapes while showcasing her gift for narrative songwriting.

Today, Nemarca continues to evolve beyond the EP that helped establish the project. Reidister remains committed to exploring new sounds, structures and creative approaches, allowing her music to grow alongside her artistic interests. Her work blends thoughtful lyricism with a willingness to experiment, creating songs that feel both deeply personal and sonically adventurous.

Before launching Nemarca, Reidister was a founding member of the Boston-based indie band The Croaks, where she helped develop the character-driven songwriting and collaborative spirit that continue to influence her solo work. Her background in live performance and narrative-focused music remains evident in every Nemarca release.

Outside of music, Reidister’s creative practice extends into storytelling, poetry, folk art, performance and post-digital media. A graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interrelated Media with a minor in Creative Writing, she brings a multidisciplinary perspective to everything she creates.

Over the years, Nemarca has performed throughout the Boston area, including recorded live sessions at WMFO, while cultivating a growing audience drawn to the project’s emotional honesty and artistic curiosity.

As Nemarca moves forward, Reidister continues to build on the foundation established by Falling All the Time, creating music that embraces vulnerability, imagination and experimentation without boundaries.
