REWIND Aesthetics: Turn Back the Clock

In an industry where trends move fast and trust is everything, REWIND has carved out a unique lane, bridging clinical precision with a personal family feel. Founded by mother-daughter duo Shannon Pfunder, CRNA, MSN, and Megan Pfunder, APRN, CNS, MSN, this female-led, family-run beauty destination in Culver City is reengineering the aging process with personalized skin treatment plans that turn back the clock. With decades of experience, ongoing education, and a multi-generational lens on beauty, REWIND delivers expert treatments and heartfelt care that go far beyond the surface. Set in an industrial-chic space with an elevated lounge vibe, the REWIND team offers timeless results in a refreshing setting that feels more like a SoHo café than a clinical office. As master injectors and nationally certified aesthetic providers, the Pfunders stay ahead of beauty trends through ongoing weekly training and advanced aesthetics education.

We believe staying current isn’t optional, it is our responsibility,” says co-owner Shannon Pfunder. “The face is a dynamic canvas, and techniques evolve constantly. By further sharpening our skill set every week, we’re able to offer the most innovative solutions.”  Beyond the services, what truly sets REWIND apart is its multigenerational perspective and business model rooted in trust. “Running a family business isn’t just about working together, it’s about having a shared vision, mutual respect, and knowing how to communicate even when you disagree,” says co-owner Megan Pfunder.

What was missing in most med spas that made you want to open your own?

We worked at several med spas across LA and consistently noticed the same issues: intimidating clinical environments, rushed appointments, and non-transparent pricing. New clients were often greeted by cold lobbies, seen in exam rooms that felt sterile, and given little time with their provider, leaving them overwhelmed and unsure about their treatment. On top of that, many were left with a hefty, unclear bill. When we opened, we set out to create the opposite experience. We designed a warm, inviting space where clients are greeted with coffee or tea and offered a tour to feel at home. Every appointment includes extra time for education and conversation, allowing us to co-create a personalized treatment plan that prioritizes the client’s goals and comfort. We are results-driven, not sales-driven, and we’re mindful of pricing, offering flexible plans that make high-quality care approachable. Our mission is to make aesthetic treatments feel empowering, not overwhelming.

Did you have personal med-spa experiences as a customer that disappointed you?

Absolutely—each of us has had personal experiences that left us disappointed before we became trained and certified in aesthetics. Like many clients, we placed our trust in providers and, unfortunately, faced the consequences of rushed or inappropriate treatments. These experiences deeply impacted our confidence, which is why we take our education and ongoing training so seriously. At REWIND, safety, precision, and continued learning are at the core of everything we do—because we’ve been in our clients’ shoes, and we’re committed to doing it differently.

Can you tell us about your most innovative and advanced treatments?

We specialize in treatments that work with the body, not against it. Our approach is centered around regenerative aesthetics, using biostimulators and growth factors to restore the skin’s natural structure and function. Rather than immediately reaching for fillers or neurotoxins, we focus on addressing the root causes of aging—such as collagen loss, volume depletion, and skin laxity—with treatments that stimulate the body’s repair mechanisms.

You are one of the select med spas that offer Sofwave. Can you tell us how it differs from Morpheus8, which has been around longer?

While both Sofwave and Morpheus8 are well-known non-surgical skin tightening treatments, they differ significantly in technology, depth of treatment, and patient experience. We’ve had extensive experience using Morpheus8, but ultimately chose to move away from it due to its longer downtime, discomfort, and—in many cases—underwhelming results for the level of invasiveness. Sofwave, on the other hand, uses innovative ultrasound technology to target the mid-dermis, stimulating collagen and elastin production to lift and tighten the skin. Although it’s only recently FDA-cleared for use in the U.S., Sofwave has been popular for years in Korea and Europe, where patients and providers alike have seen long-lasting, natural-looking results. What we love most about Sofwave is that it’s effective without being aggressive. There’s no downtime, and well tolerated

You integrate exosomes into many of your treatments. Can you explain how they work and why they are effective?

We love exosomes —and our clients do too! We incorporate exosomes into many of our treatments because they significantly accelerate healing, boost collagen production, and enhance overall skin regeneration. They are a powerful tool for reducing downtime and amplifying results, especially when paired with microneedling, RF*, or laser treatments. We exclusively use ExoNext Exosomes, and we take the time to educate our clients on why we’ve chosen this specific brand. As exosomes have grown in popularity, many companies have rushed to bring products to market, but not all exosomes are created equal.

You went against the typical med spa décor. How did you decide on this style, and how do you want this to impact your customers?

We knew from day one that we didn’t want to look or feel like a typical med spa. Many practices lean toward the overly clinical—bright lights, white walls, marble countertops, cold exam rooms that feel more like a doctor’s office than a place of self-care. We wanted something bold, inviting, and completely different. Our inspiration came from SoHo lofts and boutique hotels in New York—spaces that feel stylish, artistic, and a little unexpected. Every treatment room has a unique chandelier, and we even have chairs suspended from the ceiling—details that spark conversation and create an immersive experience.

What is next in aesthetic treatments?

For a long time, aesthetics was dominated by Botox and filler treatments that could sometimes noticeably change someone’s appearance. While those tools still have their place, the future of aesthetics is subtle, regenerative, and skin-first. It’s about aging gracefully and naturally, enhancing what’s already beautiful and unique to each person…rather than altering it. We believe the next big movement is a holistic approach to skin health—treating the skin as the foundation before reaching for more invasive options. Clients today want long-term results, not just short-term fixes.
