Millennium Magazine had a quick talk with the entrepreneur.
MM: Tell us about working with Benefit Cosmetics! What was your reaction when they asked you to come to the Olympic Games with them?
EK: When Benefit reached out, I was shocked! Attending the Olympic Games on their behalf was such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I truly never would have imagined that I’d have the opportunity to see the most talented athletes compete on the world’s biggest stage, and I am so grateful for the community that has supported me over the years because without them, I would never have opportunities like this one.
MM: Are there any new makeup trends you are wanting to try with Benefit’s new products while you’re in Paris?
EK: Not so much new products, but while in Paris I rediscovered how much I love the POREfessional Face Primer and Hoola bronzer – both classics, but so good. I used them all the time growing up, and you best believe they’re making their way back into my rotation. I also found that I loved using Benetint as a lip stain and pairing it with my favorite Charlotte Tilbury lip liner!
MM: What events this week are you most looking forward to?
EK: Seeing Coco Gauff compete in the Tennis Singles was such a crazy, pinch-me moment. Avery and I loved cheering her on, as well as watching the synchronized diving competition – we had the most incredible seats thanks to Benefit!
MM: How are you planning on styling yourself for the week?
EK: Will your outfits be more fashionable/ trendy or sporty? I tried to incorporate a mix of both into my outfits! I wore the Roxanne Tweed Button-Up Minidress from Veronica Beard for day one, and the Tropez Denim Mini Dress from Reformation for day two. I wanted to look put together, but in effortless pieces that were comfortable enough for walking around Paris and spectating at the different events.
MM: What does this brand trip mean for the future of the creator economy?
EK: This was such a surreal opportunity, and a different approach to many brand trips or activations I’ve seen before! I think we’ve seen a lot of the traditional brand trip format lately, but with this trip, Benefit really put the spotlight on the Olympic Games and less on themselves. As a creator, I was given the flexibility to weave Benefit’s brand and products in an authentic and organic way, and viewers remained engaged and tuned into the content for a behind-the-scenes look at the Olympic Games. I’m grateful that Benefit was able to see the value in this approach, and I think we’ll be seeing a more integrated approach to influencer marketing going forward, down to the micro-level of integrated sponsored posts and on a macro-level of more “ambassador” style marketing.Do you have any upcoming projects you’re looking forward to after the Olympics? Our home renovation is well underway, and I’m so excited to share more behind the scenes of our new house with everyone!
