Why Regular Exercise Needs To Be Your Top Priority

We can all make excuses for not exercising.

“I just can’t be bothered,” is a common excuse. “I can’t afford to go to the gym” is another. Some people might also say “I would rather do something more interesting with my time.”

But here’s the thing. While we can all make excuses for not exercising, if these become a constant in our life, there will be consequences.

We should all exercise regularly, and we should do so at the expense of our excuses. We don’t have to go to the gym to do it, as there are exercises we can do at home or outside. Exercise can also be fun, as you can see from these examples.

So, if you have neglected exercise recently, perhaps now is the time to focus on a few fitness goals. Here are the reasons why you should.

You Will Reduce the Risk of Future Health Conditions

Regular exercise can combat a range of health conditions, including cardiovascular diseases, depression, certain types of cancer, and problems with bones and joints. While you might be fit and relatively healthy now, there is no guarantee that you will be in the future. As you advance in years, you will start to regret your lack of exercise, especially when you fall sick and experience a lower quality of life. This can be particularly true in your senior years when there is the risk that you won’t be able to look after yourself. While you will be able to receive assistance from family members or CDS (consumer-directed services), wouldn’t you prefer to manage alone? Think about your future then and start a regular exercise routine now.

You Will Benefit from Renewed Energy

Do you get tired easily? Unfortunately, this can sometimes be because of your lack of exercise. A lack of energy can diminish your life in all kinds of ways. You can make mistakes at work and make bad decisions when at home. You can become short-tempted and snappy with the people around you.  And you can start to lack the motivation to do more in your life, be that something related to your hobbies, your social life, your family, or your future prospects. However, if you make the effort to exercise more, you will naturally start to feel more energized. You will also sleep better and that will do much for your energy levels in the morning. You Will Inspire Your Family Members

It’s not only your own health you should be concerned about, but your family’s health too! If your partner or children tend to fall into lazy habits, it might be because of the example you are setting. Think about their short and long-term future and encourage them to exercise more. Take a look at these family exercise ideas and agree to do something together. The more fun you can make your exercise sessions, the more likely your family members will agree to join in!

So, if you are prone to making excuses, now is the time to lay them to rest. For all of the reasons we have mentioned here, start to make regular exercise your priority.
