For the renewal of Bica do Sapato, the iconic restaurant founded by Manuel Reis in 1999, Branca and Marco Sousa Santos teamed up with Architect Francisco Tojal to developed bespoke furniture and supply some Branca selected Design pieces contributing to the Re Invention of one of Lisbon’s most celebrated dining destinations.
Francisco Tojal project reimagines the space while respecting its legacy and original Design layout by Margarida Grácio Nunes and Fernando Sanchez Salvador. Alongside Branca Lisboa’s collection contribution, the intervention brings together new dining tables by Architect Manuel Aires Mateus, artworks by Maria Appleton, and Daciano da Costa’s “Alvor” chairs.
The long list of contributors (here) for the renovated restaurant and bar reflects the new Bica do Sapato identity dialogue from architecture, art, design and craftsmanship. Located in the Cruiser harbor of the city this new restaurant plans to enter Lisboa dining destinations as a star.
