LAVO Ristorante Welcomes Chef Luca Maita And The Flavors of Sicily To Their Los Angeles Location

LAVO Ristorante is a love letter from Italy’s southern coast. With its tile domed ceilings, retractable windows, and rich, warm palette accented by marble tabletops, and plush banquettes with colorful throw pillows. The vibe is rustic Italian relaxed on the Sunset Strip. Designed by Vice President of Design and Development at Tao Group Hospitality Susan Nugraha and design firm Studio Collective, the 250-seat space transports diners to the Italian coastal town where food is a pleasure that is taken seriously and savored slowly.

The new West Hollywood location is the latest edition to the LAVO family with locations in New York, Las Vegas, and San Diego. Known for its kitchen that pays homage to Italy’s coastal cuisine with pops of California flair, guests can expect in-house made pasta, whole grain pizzas, locally sourced produce, wood-fired steaks and chops, and premium seafood filleted to order.

Most exciting, however, is the arrival of Chef Luca Maita to oversee the restaurant’s chic and upscale culinary program armed with a diverse global resume. Born in Catania, Sicily and from a family of fishermen, Chef Luca’s expertise in seafood preparation and passion for traditional Sicilian dishes is at the core of his culinary identity. He began his career working in traditional Sicilian restaurants in his hometown before joining the Italian army, and eventually moving to London and then Australia to pursue his culinary passions. Los Angeles called, and Chef Luca moved to the US to lead the opening of beloved Nonna in Westlake Village, then later 1212 in Santa Monica before joining the team at LAVO Ristorante.
