Thirst Trips Close to Home, Summer Fun for the Whole Family

From swim-up movies and free museum access on Cape Cod to a manatee learning experience in Puerto Rico, we’d like to share some cool family-friendly ‘Thirst Trips’ to take this summer and Memorial Day Weekend.

Oyster Tours, Swim-Up Movies, Pickleball, and More on the Cape

Nestled along the coast of Massachusetts, the historic, year-round Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club is known as one of Cape Cod’s crown jewels. During the warmer months, families can take advantage of the plethora of activities available across the resort’s 429 acres, including multiple pools, restaurants, and multiple tennis and pickleball courts – plus the only Nicklaus designed golf course on the Cape and comfy family-friendly suites in The Villages. The property offers direct access to the Cape Cod Rail Trail, with 26 miles for hiking and biking, as well as close proximity to art galleries, antique stores, and the best museums (which are also free for guests). Families will also enjoy bonfires on the resort’s private beach, live music, swim-up-movies at the ‘Shark Bah’, and delicious kid-friendly bites. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, guests can also book a private oyster bed tour to learn more about the surrounding aquaculture of oysters and the Brewster Flats. With each tour, the resort donates $25 back to local oyster beds.

Manatees, Peacocks, and More – An Easy Tropical Escape to Caribe Hilton

Planning a family getaway isn’t difficult when you can enjoy a tropical escape just a short flight away from most US cities, without passport requirements. Known for its vibrant local culture, Puerto Rico feels like an international vacation with all the perks of staying close to home. Centrally located just minutes from the heart of historic Old San Juan, Caribe Hilton is an oasis the whole family can enjoy. With over 600 rooms, ten reimagined culinary concepts, a beachfront spa, secluded beach, outdoor children’s playground, and tropical gardens with peacocks, there’s something for everyone. Caribe also offers unique underwater activities (i.e a helmet diving experience that allows you to walk the ocean floor), the best piña coladas for the adults in the group – the cocktail was invented at this hotel, after all – and a partnership with a local manatee conservation center for a memorable educational experience. For Memorial Day this year, the resort will be offering a 20% discount on their current ‘Make My Stay package with a 4-night minimum stay and credit.

The Westin Resort & Spa

This summer, The Westin Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta is debuting brand new temper tents that will double as ‘chill out zones’ for children – especially great for those with autism, ADHD and SPD. The 1m x 1m tents will feature padded play mats, stress balls, and more by the beach or garden (they can also be requested for in-room use).
