It’s time to party in LaLa Land. The exclusive Secret Room Pre-Grammy Gift Lounge was already so jam-packed with celebs and their entourages, VIP media, and taste-makers, you’d think people were locked inside their homes for the past three years. Wait, a minute- they were! And it showed–the tinsel town could not wait to get back in the swing again to mix, mingle, get photographed, and grab some serious swag. And since nobody does a pre-awards show like Secret Room, the rooftop at the Peterson Automobile Museum was buzzing before the doorman let anyone inside.
Among the bustling crowd talent present were Grammy nominees Bizkit & Butta, Damon Sharpe, Lucky Diaz, Joel Smallbone, Sean Ardoin, Robert Eibach, and Luis Bordeaux. Also spotted making the rounds were Amina Buddafly and Loren Woods, among others.
For those who take particular pleasure in people-watching, including fashion choices gone afoul, Secret Room did not disappoint. It seems the 90s has reappeared in the guise of lacy transparent crop tops and bold matte lip color accessorized with a 21st-century overdose of micro-bladed brows and facial fillers.
In honor of Black History Month, Secret Room showcased the entrepreneurial talent of start-up brands headed by African-Americans ready to make their mark in business. This was especially evident with beauty and skin care. Notable standouts included HommeFace, Hidden Riches, Chester Cosmetics, Beauty Assasin, Candles by Adisa, Peach x Pearl, Ancient Rituals, and Anecdote Naturals. The expansive beauty category also included such wonderful brands as Skincare Prophecy, Rinnovare, 5 Circle, Moss & Palm, Sweet Grass Essentials and SJW Cosmetics.
After the air kisses were blown and it was time to head out to another party or get pampered before the big event, attendees were sent packing with a duffle bag so full of product, that we think we witnessed a few shoulders and backs give out. The only thing that was missing was bell hops with dollies to load the swag into cars.
